WACL

The Represent Me social campaign, launched by WACL to mark over 100 years of advancing gender equality, tackled the underrepresentation of women in advertising despite their influence over 80% of consumer purchases.
In partnership with Billion Dollar Boy, Pinterest, Snapchat, and YouTube, I led on creative direction and production, spotlighting voices like Trina Nicole, Jamelia Donaldson, Lucy Edwards, and Ellen Jones, and shaping authentic stories around community, mentorship, and intersectionality to amplify diverse perspectives and the power of representation.

BRIEF

To mark over 100 years of advancing gender equality, WACL launched Represent Me, a social campaign calling for stronger representation of women in advertising. In partnership with Billion Dollar Boy, Pinterest, Snapchat, and YouTube, the objective was to spotlight diverse voices and move the industry from conversation to action.

DEVELOPMENT

Women influence over 80% of consumer purchases, yet remain underrepresented both on-screen and behind the scenes. The campaign needed to address systemic imbalance without feeling tokenistic, performative, or disconnected from lived experience.

CHALLENGE

Representation in advertising often lacks nuance, intersectionality, and authenticity. There was a risk of reducing complex identities into surface-level messaging, undermining the campaign’s credibility and long-term impact.

SOLUTIONS

I led creative direction and production, shaping candid, creator-led narratives around community, mentorship, and intersectionality. By centring authentic dialogue and lived experience, the campaign amplified diverse perspectives while reinforcing WACL’s call for meaningful industry change.
