BRIEF
Develop a brand identity that will serve as the foundation for Little Republic’s visual identity, ensuring consistency across print and digital assets.
DEVELOPMENT
The brand identity for Little Republic was built around the storytelling power of Adinkra symbols. They are traditional African icons rich with layered meanings. These symbols inspired a system that honours intergenerational storytelling and visual memory. Each book design follows a layered visual approach: textured backdrops mirror the tactile quality of textiles; Adinkra and other African symbols represent cultural values; and patterns reinforce the rhythms of collective heritage.

CHALLENGE
The client needed a visual system that was culturally rich yet flexible enough to evolve with future editions. They also needed clarity on how to manage assets, export formats, and ensure illustrators could complement the textured direction without overstepping licensed artwork or breaking visual cohesion.

Solutions
A handover system was established using Figma as the master source for all assets and SVG/PNG exports. InDesign files were prepared for final artwork and print production. Guidelines clarified that demo illustrations by Nakina were strictly for internal use and could not be repurposed for final publishing. Documentation also provided layout specs, texture application rules, and direction for illustrator selection to maintain brand consistency.
